Junk Journal 101 Tag Embellishments and Bling
Let’s get started by looking at some tags we made before that are hidden in a pocket. There are pockets inside of pockets. I especially love the tag with a little heart stamped in it. Several of these tags definitely need some bling, so we will have fun embellishing them. As you see, I made a nifty pocket holder for the two tags that we created yesterday. The sketchbook page is therefore completed. Love it!
Let’s move on and get to having some fun. The first little tag shown I think I’ll leave just as it is-simple with rounded corners, aged edges, and a tiny stamp. No need to add anything else from my viewpoint as I wanted it to have a minimalist form. Its pocket was accented with only a small piece of decorative paper. We will add a bit of lace to it for a bit of flair.
Next we play with a couple of small tags hand cut from scrap paper. A little green flower shaped piece with a button glued over it makes a simple but cute embellishment to a tag. With the other tag we add a decorative paper piece with some fabric and another button for a nice touch. Using non-stick paper again, we clamp the embellishment onto the tag.
Now we take another tag cut out from scrapbook paper that I’ve rounded the edges on. I see some fibers that we’ll use to accentuate, then add glue to it with another button. Another tag you see has a ribbon look on back, and on front a rounded pink piece of paper at the top that I punched out to produce an archway effect. A strip of paper reads, “to be found traveling the world.”
On the next tag we will age the edges with a red stamp pad. Using decorative scissors, we cut a section of ribbon to use as a “pull” for the tag. A narrow piece of paper is run through for another accent. A floral-heart stamp is also added to appear to be growing out of the pocket. We color in the hearts and now have another pretty darned cute tag!
The last tag is sprayed with glimmer mist along with a side strip of lace that I trim so it will set square on the tag. Some strips of words are added as well that are aged with brown shoe polish. We are attaching one pocket to the book page with a paperclip, while the other is held in place with lace glued to the page. Fun, fun, fun! I hope you learned something new in our Junk Journal 101 Tag Embellishments and Bling!
