Moments. Thresholds. Still thinking of transition

Moments. Thresholds. Still thinking of transitional moments… reasoning through them and along with them. I have stopped fighting them or the very thought of them. They are ‘Crosses to Bear,’ which is consuming my artful mind for now. Just the beginning tinkering and tweaking stages.

My transitional moments are indeed ‘Crosses to Bear.’ The energy necessary to remain in the space between who you were and who you will become is fraught with emotional turmoil where I stumble, trip, and fall into wondrous things. I liken them to Alice in Wonderland’s escapades. For me they are thresholds to something more… unknown, unplanned, just more. More of what is left to discover, both interiorly and exteriorly.

‘Crosses to Bear’ gave rise to ‘Crosses Borne.’ I have a feeling there will be a third series that remains nameless at this time. ‘Crosses to Bear’ is envisioned as white on white works. Little pieces lovingly woven together allowing texture to take the lead. ‘Crosses Borne’ will be colored somehow… each laid to rest respectfully. Honoring those moments that impact my soul as I transition to the next season of my days. Pausing here for a bit…

Moments. I have been in a pensive season for a lon

Moments. I have been in a pensive season for a long while now. Reflecting deeply, meditating, contemplative, introspective, praying… ruminative my therapist would say. I heard a mysterious lament even before my cancer… 2020 with its passionate grieving and moaning after a serious tumble sidelined me and placed my on this circuitous path. Covid played a part as well. This serpentine journey of meandering along a twisting, and at times tortuous, path brought me here. Almost four years later, I am noticing the ordinary of my days and questioning who I am and where I am as an artist, a human, and a soul.

A rebirth of love and light is at hand as I step gently into 2024. So much has taken place… transitional moments came in a cluster: You know those moments when you move from who you were to who you will become… cancer, treatments, illness, a move… debilitating anemia, turning 70, loss of my sister, a new cancer, loss of my dog companion, more illness, panic attacks, breaking my knee… healing. Actually, in the midst of healing…

What cannot be seen is still felt… I find the pause between what was and what will be is quietly illuminating… transitional moments of emotional, spiritual, physical energy that one must experience and feel and come to terms with. The path to wholeness lies before me. I just need to find the courage take the first step.

A new series is underway I am entitling ‘Crosses to Bear’ for now. Stay tuned for more…
