Easy Coffee Stained Textured Background
Today we have a super easy technique that the whole family can do. All you need is paper, instant coffee powder, rubbing alcohol, and a brush. That’s it.
Coffee Stain Recipe
3 Cups of water
1 3 oz jar of instant coffee (I bought mine at the dollar store)
1 Cup of Rubbing Alcohol
Mix these together until the coffee mixes completely. Store in a glass jar. It will last for a few months when the alcohol is added. The alcohol also helps the liquid evaporate more quickly. So this is easy and fast.
It is great to use on your old book pages stash, junk mail, envelopes, newspapers, etc. Anything paper can be aged to perfection.
Easy Coffee Stained Textured Background Technique
Just place a piece of paper on a protected surface and paint it with the coffee stain. It simply could not be easier. Try dripping the coffee or spattering it for additional depth. Allow it to dry. It only take a few minutes. If you just want to journal with my background, check out the Day 28 Printable HERE!
Stencil
I used a handwriting stencil, but any stencil will do. I used a combination of white and brown acrylic paints to achieve a mottled and variegated look over the coffee stains. I wanted a ghostly look or just a hint of text on the paper. I think it works as you can see below.
