How To Paint WIshy Washy Acrylic Flowers in Junk Journals!
We are painting wishy washing flowers in today’s junk journal tutorial. These are lots of fun to create. We are using pretty and vibrant acrylic paints for this project, as you see on my plate palette. My sketch book has been gessoed along with some titanium white paint. I prefer to use long brushes here. It is helpful to learn to hold the brush at the top instead of the tip if you don’t already. The beautiful Camellia flower that you see below are my inspiration for this project.

WIshy Washy Acrylic Flowers Tutorial!
To load your brush, dip your brush into a jar of water, and then lightly place on the cloth in your other hand to leave the proper amount of water. Going dark to light with my colors, I start by dipping my brush in Folk Art cobalt blue. I paint with a water color sort of look. Without dipping back into water, I go to teal color and just randomly scrub it around. Next I go with the pretty green for a natural background element.
Now is a good time to clean my brush before starting on the focal point, which are the red flowers of course! Adding some yellow to highlight, I make sure not to mix too many colors. I tap a few places to represent the floral buds. Next, you’ll see that a little swirling over the flowers brings them to life! They are really taking shape here. Without over blending, I tap a little blue in the center, then add a few light swirls of white. Mixing red and blue, a purple color results, which I add as a final highlight. I think that will do it! I hope you like these camellias as much as I do! Please remember that we have to learn when we have done enough and it’s time to stop painting!
