How to Make Tiny Collage Embellishments
Today we are going to start using up all those scraps and spares, buttons and bows that are stashed away in your creative space. Common. I know you have them!! WINK! I punched a bunch of squares, circles, ovals in several sizes. I hand cut some flags because I don’t have a flag punch. SAD FACE!! You can see what I started with below.
We will be making nice little embellishments for our junk journaling journey. Punch out a few different shapes like squares, circles, ovals, etc. to use. I am taking a batch of scraps as shown to use today. Looking at the end result from some Gelli® plate print I was not so enamoured with, I noticed some pretty sections that can be used in smaller sections! However, some punches are used to make several pretty shapes, including flowers. You may decide to use what might seem to be scrap for another artistic pursuit!
Using Paper Clips, Staples, Safety Pins, Bakers Twine
Anyhow, let’s move on to paper clips, staples, twine, and buttons to start creating again. Asymmetry is the operative word here, and random placement of little embellishments without too much concentration is lots of fun. My Fabri-Tac comes in handy again here. I actually would normally use a hot glue gun, apply to paperclip, then cover with a piece of paper to hold in place as displayed. Looks like I found the perfect little gray button. Yay! A little twine with a cute tiny bow is the perfect final touch.
Now we will make a flag by using a circle and two different sizes of the same shapes; one having a nice scalloped edge. Words or stamping can be added, for example. After placing in your altered book, your creations can be embellished more. Next we use a cute heart as the focal point. Who doesn’t love hearts?!
I believe that artists are really designers at heart. Keep on moving forward with your contagious creativity and have fun as we explore new artistic opportunities and pursuits!
Batch Create Elements for Junk Journaling
Above a just a few of the Tiny Collage Embellishments I made in one session. I will be adding more bling and things to these when they actually find a home in a book. But for now, I just wanted to batch create as many as I could so they will be ready for me when I need them. I love creating junk journal elements in batches. It seems to work well when I am in my creative flow, my Muse is propelling me forward, and I have lost all track of time. I am sure you know what I mean! WINK!
