Easy Vintage Cut Valentine Heart
The first step is determining what background you want to use for your Valentine. The one shown here in the video is a download from the Graphics Fairy. I have added some tan watercolor to it for aging. First we sketch out a little heart. Then using Pinking shears for diamond shape cuts, we follow the line (and importantly) turn the paper as we cut. Next we fold the heart in half and cut small diamond shapes along the center. As you see, I like to pencil in the diamonds first before cutting. Opening the heart up almost magically displays tiny hearts! Pretty easy and fun to do.
Instead of cutting the paper in half, I simply fold it over in both directions, then wet and tear for good results. Then we fold, wet, and tear once more. I like setting a heart inside of the larger heart shaped cut out as shown as well. You can see how a really cute card could be made with a heart. Love it!
Now we glue stick the heart to a book page, then trim up the other piece a bit so it fits well on the other page. Be careful with your glue stick here as this piece is fragile and can tear easily. Burnish with your bone folder to finish.
I hope that you like the old hearts shown that I made out of a quilt and added some vintage buttons to. Just one of many ideas that we can imagine for crafting projects like this. Thanks for joining me today, and keep on creating beautiful art while passing on your contagious creativity!
