Reinventing ME
I landed in a space of my soul’s discontent after one messy week last July when I broke my knee, lost my best friend to cancer, and was outplaced by a corporate takeover. BOOM – I was handed a whole bunch of time to reflect and ponder. When the tears dried, I was left with two choices – Feel sorry for myself or Reinvent ME!
GROWing
After the tears dried, and I picked myself up, and had nowhere to go. I took advantage of an outplacement coach as part of my severance. That became a pivotal moment in my journey to Reinvent ME!
Coaching a coach can be challenging and often it appears that you are coaching each other. We worked hard and laughed a lot. After our second session, he suggested that I dust my Coaching Certificate off and put it to use helping people just like me who needed to Reinvent themselves for whatever reason(s).
GROW with Me Is a Crazy Way to Reinvent ME!
I had loads of time to plan and think about my next chapter or what I call my Encore Journey. Three months of planning, creating action steps for myself, and doing the work necessary to Reinvent ME, and I have a full-fledged coaching program. I want company on this adventure. It is totally an adventure to find income after 60, trust me on that. 🙂
I began playing around with ideas about how to do this and find playmates and sisters to accompany me. I brainstormed with my coach, my mastermind group (who think I am crazy), and alone as I healed. GROW with Me was born out of a need as well as a tiny sense of desperation! It has given me purpose to fuel my passion and my training.
My mission is to empower YOU to grow, thrive, and prosper.

I am sure you will provide a much-needed service for other women. So many of us in mid-career are being cast aside by employers. It is a shock to some. Best of luck with your coaching endeavor.

And it doesn’t sound like you wallowed in self-pity very long. Congrats for helping yourself & getting going again! Good luck with your new group!

What a huge adventure you have before you – and good on you for choosing to reinvent yourself at an age and stage when most of us would happily put our feet up and enjoy retirement 🙂

Hello Rebecca! I shared your cool eye picture/pin on my Beautiful Ethereal You board on Pinterest for you! Hope it brings you some business. <3 I've been reinventing myself after moving from California and leaving 14 years as an Special Ed aide in a school district. I was already blogging but found that it needed to become more of a business than just fun writing. Still working behind the scenes but it's happening! 🙂
Enjoy your new career and up theirs to the people who let you go… My husband was out of work for 2 years and we were forced to sell our home and make due on 25% income thanks to his former boss. Found out later that the company got rid of all people above a certain salary… Real reason he was let go…
Moving on but starting over in the latter 50's is tough but do-able,
Hugs,
Barb 🙂
