Overcome Fear of Watercolor
Welcome to day 32 of our junk journaling journey everyone! We are moving into our second month of our creative practice. I hope you are enjoying the tutorials and having fun as we learn.
I have already gessoed some of the pages in my journal. We will be using a #2 and #4 watercolor brush today, and dipping into water a few times so that the paints are moist enough for good results. I’m letting the brush work for me to make some leaves. It’s very easy to make larger leaves by simply pressing down harder with the brush. Experiment until you achieve the result you are seeking (as I am doing here).
Using a secondary color for variation, the leaves are becoming more realistic looking. Next we go to the larger #4 brush and follow the same process. Remember that watercoloring just takes a little practice, and as you experiment you will find how the paint reacts with water, the size brush you prefer for different applications, etc. Learning which colors you especially like and how they interact while still wet is also important.
Whatever works best for you is of foremost importance here, as with many other artistic endeavors. Well, I just decided to knock the brushes together for some splatters. Nothing is off limits! Play, experiment, learn what is special just for you, and most of all have fun!!
