Bible Notes Junk Journal 40 Days
Any type of books for journaling will suffice, including composition, sketch, or an actual journal. A spiral notebook is good as it can expand a bit for future journaling additions. I personally love mixed media paper. It is great for everything we are going to do. Even a little booklet like the first one shown in the tutorial will do. The next tutorial notebook is a real sketch book, containing thick, high quality resume type paper. Then we have a real sketch book, which is mine. It includes faces I have drawn. Now we see an 8.5″x5.5″ sketch book with 60 lb. paper, followed by a booklet with piano keys on the cover that I found for 99 cents at a thrift store. It is another true journal with nice smooth heavy weight paper that won’t show through to the other side.
The one we all be using is the final one seen here on the tutorial. It is a sketch diary containing 8.5″x11″ acid free archival quality paper that won’t fade or yellow, and neatly tears out if needed. When scanned, it will be same size as print paper and our printable. I don’t know the weight but it is probably at least 80 lb.
Let’s start creating our background now. We will keep it simple. Each day I am going to create a background scan with a couple of journaling cards to match, and a few other things that can be cut or torn from the page. Also included will be a snippet of the word for each day of our 40 day Bible Notes junk journal journey. I especially love the book of Matthew.
We are using a dark blue color called Ink spot, along with Treasure gold, Both are Folk Art acrylic paints. A circular stencil and flat stenciling brush are our tools. Loading paint into the brush, we then swirl and swipe on the page. Wow-love that blue and gold together! Notice the lighter, open spaces on the page where notes can be written. Journaling pens like gel pens are a great option here because they can be applied over acrylics (and watercolors). Now dabbing gold over the stencil, I’m looking forward to see the result!
Please download the free printable (a printable is a digital file that you can use for junk journaling) HERE, where you can cut and paste onto your page, or create your own thing if you prefer. The printable with have a daily scripture as well. Thanks for participating and have fun!
