Make Your Own Handmade Envelope Templates
Welcome to dayyyyyy 11 of our junk journal journey. We are making handmade envelope templates today. The best way to make handmade envelopes is to start with a template. I like to use scrapbook papers, including card stock, that is 6″x6″ in size. I’m using the stronger card stock here. Start by folding in half, then fold an edge down to meet the bottom edge. Next flip it over and do the same on the other side. Now we open it up and bring the right side in as you see in the video. This becomes the flap.
Next we’ll do a little tricky, as we don’t fold it right at the edge, to allow for folding up to leave true square sides. Fold a tiny bit at the top as shown. This leaves a 4xx4.25″ size. Using binder clips, attach card to a dark same sized paper. Using a plastic card, I push into edge to score, then fold to crease. Then moving from the center, I do the other side. Re-fold the little tip in corner, then follow the same steps in the other corners. Remove clips and fold in sides and bottom, then the top. You can round the top if you wish. Now use tape runner to set double-sided tape as shown to finish. Run card over the envelope to ensure that it is well secured. Voila!
The hack is to make your own template. Another hack is to open an old envelope and trace it on a larger piece of paper to make a large envelope. Since you are going to put trinkets inyside of your envelope, you want it to hold up well on the page. Therefore, when putting in the journal you will want to glue it with something stronger than glue stick, such as Fabri-Tac. Double-sided scrapbook paper makes splendid envelopes. by the way. Tuesday Morning stores usually carry it.
