How to Make 3 Tiny Tags for Junk Journals and Altered Books
Welcome to day 17 of junk journaling. Today we are discussing Tiny Tags for Junk Journals and Altered Books. I have a cigar box, (which I collect) full of all kinds of little bits and pieces of trinkets that I have amassed over the past 16 days. We will look at things we can use some of them for with tag making. First you see a beautiful flap that is glued to the side of a page. We created that in the Decorative Flip Flaps Tutorial HERE! This makes for a nice hanging tag embellishment to add to flaps or tuck into pockets in your altered book projects.
Hanging a tag from an envelope is another nifty idea. Simply punch a hole in the tag and envelope, then run twine through both and tape it to the other side of envelope flap. Next is a pretty little tag that is lightly glued to a page with a water colored floral design and a ribbon tied through the hole. This tag is an example of using one to mark a special page in your altered book, where you may have some of your favorite ideas displayed.
Now you see the cute little ‘kitty card’ that I have set a cut out tag to to enhance and make it complete. The Kitty is happy now that he is snug back in his own special pocket! As you may already know, I love making dangling things in my junk journaling. We have a piece of bright purple colored water colored paper glued to a cute little August calendar to use for the next tag.
Now you can see all of the special tools used for tag making in my cigar box. Using the tag shaped hole punch (with a little extra force than usual), a tag is generated. Combining a small section of both paper sections leave both pretty colors with the number 8 (for August of course), to make it uniquely special. A hole is again punched for twine to set it with. On this one the twine is tied to the side tab on the book page. When making a book, I try to concentrate on continuity and repetitive elements that represent sort of the “soul’ and spirit” of the book!
